The Summer Law Program in Romania provides U.S. law students with the unique opportunity to earn up to six academic credits during the five week period from May 26, 1997 through June 30, 1997 in the setting of a historic Central European university in a country that is currently in transition to a capitalist economy. Courses in Public International Law, European Community Law. White Collar Crime, and Transnational Securities Regulation will be offered by faculty members of both Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University and Babes/Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, providing students with the opportunity to experience legal instruction from faculty schooled in both the civil and common law traditions. An enrichment component will include visits to various legal institutions of the host county; participation in small discussion groups with other members of the Faculty of Law of the host institution, and social interaction with law students of the host institution.

Touro Law Center, in cooperation with the Law School of Moscow State University (MSU), sponsors an exciting four-week summer law program in Moscow, Russia. The program will provide law students with the opportunity to study law in a country whose legal, economic, social, and cultural foundations are undergoing an historic transition. The fate of this important country will depend in large part on the strength and reformation of its legal institutions and law. Courses, supplemental lectures, and tours will allow students not only to study substantive legal issues, but to compare the emerging Russian legal system with alternatives from the United States and other common and civil law jurisdictions.
